The SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality qualification covers a wide range of core hospitality topics including how to deliver outstanding customer service, suggestive selling techniques, handling customer complaints, Barista training, bar & beverage product knowledge and correct hospitality service techniques.

Course Duration and Study Options

  • 48 weeks (2 days per week)
  • 5 hours distance training
  • 36 shifts mandatory industry placement

Entry Requirements

  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent* (No band below 5.0)
  • Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent in the student’s home country)*
  • Students who have not completed high school must have relevant work experience or a qualification that indicate a likely success of course completion.

*Alternatively, students are required to take a pre-test before enrolment.

Assessments

Skills and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you study at the Queensland Academy of Technology, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.

Completing placement is compulsory, and you will be expected to manage family and work commitments in order to complete your shifts. You are required to complete a minimum of 36 shifts of placement to satisfy this component of your qualification.
